What this site is, and what it is not

ekonook is an independent editorial site. We describe products for babies, children and parents, and we point to the shops and brands that sell them. We are not a shop: we hold no stock, take no payment, ship nothing, and handle no returns, exchanges or warranty claims.

When you buy something after reading about it here, the contract is between you and that seller alone. Their terms, their delivery times, their returns policy and their after-sales service apply, not ours. Any dispute about an order, a payment or a faulty item has to be taken up with them.

This is general information, not professional advice

Nothing on this site is medical, health, nutritional, legal or safety advice, and nothing here is tailored to your child or your situation. If a question touches your child’s health, development, feeding or sleep, ask a midwife, doctor, health visitor or another qualified professional.

Always read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions, age ratings and warnings that come with a product — they take precedence over anything written here. This matters most where mistakes are dangerous: sleep and bedding, car seats, carriers and slings, feeding equipment, and anything a small child can reach, mouth or pull down.

Accuracy: we try hard, and we can still be wrong

We write what we believe to be accurate at the time of writing, from the manufacturer’s and retailer’s own information. Products change constantly: materials are substituted, sizes and packaging are revised, models are discontinued and specifications are quietly updated, often without any change to the product name.

So the description here may not match the item you are looking at today. The vendor’s own product page is always the reference. We give no warranty, express or implied, that anything on this site is accurate, complete, current or fit for a particular purpose.

If you spot something wrong or out of date, tell us and we will correct it. That is the fastest route to a better site, and we would rather hear it than not.

Prices are indications, never offers

Any price shown here is an indication noted at some point in the past. Prices change, and they differ between countries, currencies, sellers and moments; delivery costs, taxes and duties may or may not be included. A price on this site is not an offer and creates no obligation on anyone.

Check the current price on the seller’s page before you buy. Never treat a figure shown here as what you will actually pay.

Certifications and other vendor claims

When a page here says a product is GOTS certified, OEKO-TEX certified, organic, recycled, vegan, hypoallergenic, or made in a particular country, that is a claim made by the brand or the shop, reported by us. It is not a finding of ours, and it is not verification.

We are not a certification body, an auditor or a laboratory. We do contact vendors by phone or email to confirm a certification where it is unclear or unstated, and we say what we were told; but we cannot guarantee that a certificate exists, that it is still valid, that it covers the specific article, colourway or batch you receive, or that the scheme means what the seller implies. Certification schemes issue licence numbers precisely so that they can be checked — with the certifying body, not with us.

The filter tags on this site follow what the product page states (with room for error). They are a navigation aid, not a guarantee, and no tag here should be read as our own certification of anything.

Links to other sites

This site links to shops, brands and certification bodies we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, their availability, their prices, their privacy or security practices, or the products and services they sell. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the other side of it.

We currently earn no commission on any link: there are no affiliate links on this site, and no brand pays to appear. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed clearly on the pages concerned, as the law requires.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ekonook, its operator and its contributors accept no liability for any loss or damage — direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential, including lost time, lost money, or damage to property — arising from your use of this site, from reliance on anything published here, from any product you buy from a third party, or from the site being unavailable, interrupted or containing errors.

Nothing in this text excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Your statutory rights as a consumer — which you hold against the seller of the product, not against us — are unaffected by anything written here.

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. We may change, move or remove any content at any time, and we are under no obligation to keep any page online.

Telling us about a problem

If a product page here is wrong, out of date, unsafe or unfair to a brand, write to us and we will look at it. Brands are welcome to correct the record about their own products; so are parents who bought something and found it was not as described.

This page is written in plain language rather than legal drafting, and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It sets out our position honestly; it is not a substitute for legal advice, and the law of your own country may give you more.
