- Needs a lanoline bath every two to three weeks with daily use to keep the wool water-repellent
- A lanoline bath means soaking the cover for four to six hours in a 35 ml-per-10-litre solution, then reshaping it and drying it flat
- When new, it has to be washed several times before it becomes fully waterproof
